With the Jacksonville University's 2011 graduation inching closer, and the next set of JU alumni about to become official, it is an important time to discuss the type of role some alumni are playing in the world and how they are serving as models for current and future alumni, as well as ambassadors for the Jacksonville University philosophy and educational curriculum.
Admittedly, it is difficult to mention Jacksonville University alumni and not immediately think about the news of Artis Gilmore being named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, but A-Train is by no means the only Dolphin alumni making an impact on society in their own way. Here is just a sample of articles published throughout the country thus far in 2011, all of which include a former JU student and how they are pursuing their goals:
Flying high ...Princeton native finds passionate career in the friendly skies
Will Jacksonville Elect its First African American Mayor?
Former 'American Idol' contestant holds CD release party at San Marco's Square One
Callahan music teacher Mary Salis helps students 'succeed in music'

These stories represent a small percentage of what the 23,000 JU Alumni are accomplishing through hardwork, focus and leadership. We invite the next batch of alumni to look to these fellow members of the Dolphin family and strive to make a difference like them in order to become role models for the generation of JU graduates.
