Why I am Attending Homecoming in 100 words

Homecoming is upon us. In just a couple weeks, graduates from 5 years ago to 50 years ago will be convening on campus to reunite with their friends, roommates, study partners, and teammates. For those still debating on whether to visit their alma mater, we at the Dolphin Network strongly urge you to consider it. The school has worked hard to pack the week of October 18th with events that combine fun with nostalgia.

However, instead of listing the reasons we think you should attend, we thought it might be more convincing if you heard from a couple of your classmates
on their reasons. So, we asked two noted alumni - Pat Hogan (Class of 1977) and Randy Hart (Class of 1976) - to give us 100 words on why they are returning to campus:
I will attend Homecoming because I want to reconnect with old NROTC friends, visit family in Jacksonville and see the world’s most beautiful campus. I grew up in Jacksonville and always loved the JU campus. Walking the grounds gives me a sense of comfort. The campus became even more significant when I graduated and was commissioned on the same day 33 years ago. Now, my son, Will, and his wife, Teresa (both JU graduates) reside in Jacksonville. JU will always hold a place of honor in my heart. I look forward to sharing great memories with other attendees and making new ones in one of my favorite places.

Randy Hart (Class of 1976; Major: Political Science)
I'll be at Homecoming as part of a reunion gathering of the Dutch Boys, an intramural sports group from the '70s (and two-time campus football champs!). We became sort of a "non-frat" frat, with none of the Greek stuff, but all of the revelry and camaraderie. Many of us went on to earn graduate degrees, and while we now live all over the country, we stay in touch via email and social media. This year, more than a dozen of us will be in Jacksonville to reminisce and to regale each other with exaggerated tales of glory from our days along the banks of the St. Johns.
